Aesthetic appeal, functionality, and conceptual solutions find their perfect equilibrium in the new DM House 270 m² interior design project by Between the Walls architectural studio. While preserving the existing architectural framework, the studio adopted a bold approach to its transformation, unlocking new spatial possibilities.
Maximizing the potential of the pre-existing structure, particularly the original design of the upper floor with its expansive open terrace, the decision was made to integrate a portion of the terrace into the interior, creating a split-level living room. The space gained a new dimension: the upper level became a lounge for relaxed leisure with integrated seating, while the lower level serves as a home cinema zone featuring a large projector and a deep custom sofa finished with a microcement base and leather cushions.
The main living room is distinguished by a play of contrasts and textures. An integrated sculptural fireplace became not only a functional element but also an artistic focal point, thanks to the bas-relief detailing by a guest sculptor. The design supports a concept of understated elegance with warm accents, striking a balance between classic and contemporary styles.
Adjacent to the living room, a minimalist office zone was created with a HAY desk and chair and &Tradition lighting, subtly separated by a glass partition that maintains a sense of openness and privacy simultaneously.
The lounge area deserves particular attention – a true hedonistic oasis. Here, in the vinyl corner, time seems to stand still, and the eye is inevitably drawn to the eclectic, animalistic sofa. Its combined textile upholstery from the renowned brand Casamance adds sophistication, while décor from the stylish Ferm Living introduces elegant accents. It is in this cozy nook that the project's unique character and individuality are felt most keenly, where masterfully combined materials and forms give rise to a vibrant dynamic and impeccable style.
With a fluid transition, the lounge area merges into the kitchen, where bar stools from the minimalist HAY elegantly complement a monochromatic island finished with geometric Zellige tiles, adding a graphic element to the interior. The integration of zones maintains clean lines and precise proportions, while large windows, allowing generous natural light, reveal a breathtaking panoramic view that becomes an integral part of the interior, filling it with a sense of lightness and space.
The dining table also found its place in the lounge area, surrounded by iconic Alias chairs from their legendary Spaghetti series. This is an ideal setting for family meals and warm gatherings.
The entire project is unified by an original idea of a chess-like form, subtly manifested in each room through various interpretations. Thus, upon entering the lounge area, attention is drawn to a painting with an accent frame made from the same geometric tiles as the kitchen island. Next to it stands a unique chair by the talented Ukrainian artist Anton Saenko, created in fruitful collaboration with Between the Walls.
Attention to detail is evident throughout – from the mirrored facades that visually expand the hallway to the dramatic guest bathroom finished in a deep red hue with a combination of microcement and textured wallpaper. The contrast between light and saturated colors creates an unexpected emotional perception of the space.
The second-floor bathroom is designed in warm terracotta tones. The walls and shower area are clad in glossy tiles of varying textures, creating an interesting interplay of light and shadow. A washbasin made of smooth microcement adds elegance, and a sophisticated lighting solution from the Tiini brand introduces accent beams.
The staircase connecting the two floors is executed in a contrasting yet harmonious palette. Deep black steps create a striking accent against walls in a rich terracotta hue, divided by vertical wooden panels. Minimalist DCW Editions wall lights with a soft, diffused glow delicately illuminate the ascent, emphasizing the texture of the walls.
The lower floor's sleeping area is a harmonious blend of functionality and individuality, where the master suite elegantly combines a dressing room, bedroom, and bathroom into a single, flowing volume.
Materials imbue the interior with a sense of tactility and expressiveness. Warm herringbone parquet flooring creates a feeling of coziness, while walls covered with microcement and painted in the upper section establish a serene atmosphere. A particular highlight is the white zone under the ceiling, which visually lengthens the space.
Walnut wood, green marble, and white tiles adorn the column in the bathroom area. Mirrors conceal storage, and opposite, a comfortable bench offers a view into the dressing room through glass facades.
The heart of the bedroom is a custom bed. A stylish Pols Potten Todd armchair adds elegance, and a compact Gervasoni Inout side table completes the relaxation space. Every element here is carefully selected to create an atmosphere of style and comfort.
The cozy children's room, выполненная in calm pastel tones, features two separate beds along the walls, complemented by soft textile headboards and cushions. Olive-green throws provide warmth, and a round rug with a geometric pattern unites the space between them. Next to each bed is a small pink cylindrical stool from Wouddesign.
The children's bathroom deserves special attention, finished with patterned tiles. Here, the motif of a chess mosaic, which is a recurring theme in the details throughout the interior, is subtly manifested.
