Winner of a private architecture competition organized by Dessercom, this project showcases the expansion and major renovation of the company’s head office, dedicated to medical ambulance transportation. The design features the addition of a new garage accommodating 18 ambulances, which elegantly wraps around the existing building to create a central courtyard. This inviting outdoor space connects directly to the bistro lounge through a large garage door, seamlessly blending functionality with a sense of community.
The expansion is built with a lightweight wood-frame structure, maximizing the potential of this sustainable regional material. Striking timber trusses shape the garage roof, opening toward the south to provide the ideal surface for solar collectors. These harness the sun’s energy and channel it into a high-efficiency heat exchanger, reflecting Dessercom’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
