The new Cerritos College Performing Arts Center new performing arts centers’ program is simply articulated in three distinct building masses; a large, central element which captures the major performance venues with flanking L-shape bars to the west and east which house Music and Theater programs respectively. The strategically bent forms also serve to define four distinct landscape spaces that will enhance student experience and functionality of the campus as a whole.
The facility provides spaces for the music and theater departments to instruct and perform, as well as provides a collaboration between the college and the surrounding community. Included is a new 400-seat theater, 150-seat black box theater, dressing rooms, multi-level lobby, instructional spaces, as well as faculty offices and classrooms. The new building serves to enhance the college’s mission to support and enrich the arts on campus and in the city of Norwalk.
