In Józefów, near Warsaw, a house designed by JABRAARCHITECTS studio has been built.
- CATAMARAN HOUSE.
The urban landscape of Józefów is relatively diverse and difficult to find context in. Typical single-family buildings of suburban character prevail, but there are also villas, residences and modern buildings, of which more and more are being built recently.
The investors' assumptions and expectations were clear. They wanted to live in a modern, comfortable home that would be their private enclave, but also their place of work.
To meet the investors' needs, we designed a modern two-storey house with a flat roof on a charming 1,300 m2 plot on the banks of the Vistula, with white elevations emerging from behind a green curtain of trees at the front of the plot. The house was ultimately designed for a family with a child, with the ground floor providing ample space for an office and showroom for the investors' business.
The ground floor is planned on a T-shaped ground plan, while the ground floor only partially covers the ground floor plan, thanks to which the rooms on the ground floor are planned with exits to terraces overlooking the trees and the surrounding landscape. The living area of just over 350 m2 comprises on the ground floor a kitchen, living and dining room, dressing room, wc, technical rooms, a two-car garage and an office and showroom. On the first floor, on the other hand, there is a master bedroom with access to the terrace, a dressing room, a gym also with access to the terrace, a child's bedroom and a large bathroom overlooking the trees from the bathtub level. The designed rooms are spacious and arranged in the building in such a way that they do not interfere with the office area designed in the western part of the building, with a separate entrance directly from the front. The living area (living room, kitchen, dining room), organised in one large space, connects to the terrace and garden through wide glazing, while the eastern side is illuminated by a glazed patio.
The geometric solution of the volume and the elevations refer to the inspiration taken from the theme of yachts. These inspirations were taken directly from the investors' interest in travelling on the Mediterranean. The white colour of the façade, contrasts with the dark surfaces finished in quartzite slab, and looks striking in the green surroundings. The sloping white horizontal roofs on the ground floor and ground floor give the building a dynamic character reminiscent of a catamaran.
