The McLane Hall Laboratory modernization transforms aging science laboratories into dynamic, research driven learning environments that better support student success, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands on scientific discovery. Delivered in multiple phases to maintain ongoing campus operations, the renovation modernized General Chemistry and Introductory Biology laboratories with updated infrastructure, improved safety systems, and flexible teaching environments designed to reflect contemporary scientific practice.
The renovated labs support Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs), allowing students to participate in scalable, real-world research opportunities directly within the classroom environment. Enhanced laboratory layouts and state-of-the-art equipment foster collaborative team science while giving faculty greater flexibility to integrate experiential learning into coursework. Despite the logistical challenges of phased construction within an active academic setting, the project successfully revitalized critical STEM spaces that position the university to better support the next generation of scientific inquiry and innovation.
