As Phase IV of HED’s continued partnership with Point Loma Nazarene University, this renovation transforms an existing vacant space at the Balboa Regional Center into a purpose-built Anatomy Lab for the College of Health Sciences. Designed to support immersive, hands-on instruction, the space integrates dissection tables, surgical lighting, advanced AV systems, stainless steel wash stations, refrigeration, and ceiling-mounted technology infrastructure.
Through detailed program validation and building systems analysis, HED aligned academic objectives with regulatory requirements and operational performance. A specialized mechanical strategy delivers 100 percent outside air and directed airflow across each dissection table to protect occupants and maintain indoor air quality. HED provided full architectural and structural engineering services from concept through construction administration, advancing the project on an accelerated schedule aligned with the academic term and delivering a thoughtful, smart, high-performance instructional environment.
