In 1993, the University Art Museum (UAM) was relocated into the Horn Center, the University’s former North Library, designed by campus architect Edward Killingsworth’s office, constructed in 1987, and recently renovated by Pfeiffer. Since the initial move UAM has been serving the campus with contemporary exhibitions and displays of student work. Coupled with its renovation of the Horn Center, Pfeiffer worked with the University to expand the museum by roughly 4,000 square feet, most of which is dedicated to a new Main Gallery with moveable walls, allowing for multiple exhibitions at a time, an effort made possible through an endowment by artist and philanthropist Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld, after whom the museum was renamed in 2019. In addition to the expansion of the galleries and the design of a dramatic new entry, the north and south courtyards have been renovated for new seating areas and a sculpture garden.
