SUSTAINABILITY
sustainability is based on the principle of 3 R’s
Reuse, Reduce and Recycle
Reuse - The old roofing tiles dictated the architectural outcome. the old tiles were used to reduce the cost and carbon footprint. the main entrance door is a 100 year old frame procured from a junkyard.
Reduce - the existing walls and masonry structures were used as a part of the design to reduce the use of materials. the boundary wall acts as a partition for the cafe. A living green wall reduce the use of masonry structures on opposite side.
Recycle - Wooden purlins were salvaged from old houses and reprocessed as wooden screens.
in addition the cafe uses oxide flooring and landscape for articulating the architecture.
