A full five-floor restoration of an 1848 Greek Revival townhouse in Brooklyn Heights, one of Brooklyn's most historic and valuable neighborhoods. PLANS Architects applied passive house principles to a 19th-century structure, achieving significant energy performance improvements while preserving the building's historic character. The project restored five wood-burning fireplaces, the original staircase, and period architectural details throughout. Work included structural assessments, NYC Department of Buildings filings, and full construction administration. This project demonstrates PLANS's ability to combine high-performance energy design with landmark-quality historic preservation in Brooklyn's most prestigious residential neighborhoods.
