Providing over 1m sq ft of prime office space close to the City of London, this mixed-use development also creates new routes, public spaces, shops and cafes, marking the renewal of an urban neighbourhood. Its three simple rectilinear buildings are set within a permeable public realm designed to reconnect the site with its surroundings.
Arranged around day-lit atria, each building responds to the geometries of the site, shifting in plan to create distinctive spaces, a rich streetscape and a lively skyline. The unitised, fully-glazed curtain walls of Building 1 (now known as the Blue Fin Building) are shaded by vertical aluminium fins, while the deep splayed reveals of Buildings 2 and 3 are clad in ceramic terracotta panels.
The project won a BCO Award (2008) and a RIBA Award (2010).
