The goal of the project was “from WORK to WORK WELLNESS,” a vision of the next tenant building, where a versatile place to work will be developed around the work. The concept was “PATCHWORK,” and the idea was to realize work wellness by connecting a variety of activities.
There are three design techniques. The first is a patchwork of materials. The second is a patchwork of spaces, using frames and lines as threads. The third is a patchwork of areas, each with its own distinctive ceiling and lighting, delivered to the user as a unified whole.
The facility also consists of three areas (Dining, Conference, and Fitness). The “& BIZ Dining” area is used not only for eating and drinking, but also for coworking and events, and is divided by a frame that gently separates the various activities such as reading, meetings, and parties. Within these frames, art, greenery, records, light, and other elements of human sensibilities are incorporated, creating a diverse mix of activities, places, and sensibilities. The art is a cross between contemporary artists and Art Brut to approach diversity and social issues. The space, a mix of various spices, is like a cafeteria, a place for coworking, a place for conversation, and a place where functions are blended ambiguously to provide tenant workers with a place where they can be as they wish.
