AVLI Modern Greek / А contemporary Greek quarter in Bali
AVLI Modern Greek is a 1,100-square-metre restaurant completed in Bali in 2025. Rather than designing a restaurant inspired by Greece, the project reinterprets the spatial structure of a traditional Greek quarter and translates it into a contemporary hospitality destination.
Built from scratch on an empty site, AVLI is organised around an open-air courtyard — the social heart of the project — surrounded by sculptural whitewashed volumes, lounge areas, an open kitchen, a cocktail-focused bar, olive gardens and private event apartments.
The architecture and interiors were developed as a single integrated concept, drawing on Mediterranean traditions of gathering around food while responding to Bali’s tropical climate through light, shadow, natural ventilation and outdoor living.
