Durable, timeless, malleable

Between Gothenburg Central Station and Skansen Lejonet there used to be a 200-acre wetland overgrown with reeds, until it was decided to be drained in 1863. Today it is different, no longer a wetland or a bustling dry dock for large ships, but a neighborhood in one of Gothenburg's most exciting areas.

Walking into the entrance of the newly built Platinan at the southern end of Hisingsbron, taking the elevator to the 12th floor and entering through the glass doors is like experiencing the landscape of the past again, now in the form of Arena Platinan, Vasakronan's new co-working office. Kanozi Arkitekter has developed the concept and interior design for the 2500 square meter area with flexible workplaces, meeting rooms and generous social areas. Vasakronan wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere, something different.

There is a sense of calm with beautiful Scandinavian tones drawn from nature. An organically shaped piece of seating leads visitors to the centrally located reception area. In the middle of the floor, in addition to the reception area, there is also a kitchen with a large bar counter, seating areas for arena visitors and a fireplace to gather around. It also houses the co-working office's two coffee stations - a deliberate strategy to bring people together.

It is not only the landscape that inspired Kanozi's interior designers for the concept. The building that stood on the site before, Kromet, will also live on to some extent in the new building. Early in the process, a tour of Kromet was undertaken to investigate what could be utilized, which then became important for the project's concept. The under-roof tiles were taken care of and have been given a new pattern, inspired by wave movements on a stormy day. The concrete facade has become a bar counter, and the reception desk is now clad in the sheet metal facade of the previous building. Parts of the interior are made from recycled materials such as plastic and glass. Textile samples used during the work process have been used as wall coverings and decoration.

We see Arena Platinan as a canvas for its members and its surroundings, an enhancement of the site and the fantastic view of the river. Platinum is a durable, timeless and malleable material, just like Arena Platinan!
