L’Ardoise is the first student housing project developed by UTILE (Unité de travail pour l'implantation de logement étudiant) in the city of Québec. Located directly across from Université Laval in the heart of Sainte-Foy, L’Ardoise is UTILE’s most ambitious project to date.
Rising eight stories high, it can accommodate up to 243 tenants in 204 housing units, ranging from studios to apartments with 2 to 4 bedrooms. Its strategic location makes it an ideal living space for the student population. Approximately fifty parking spaces and a secure bike room are located underground, while the ground floor offers a street-facing common lounge, a laundry room, and a rear outdoor terrace.
The façade treatment is deliberately understated and elegant, articulated by the vertical rhythm of black cladding. At the building’s prominent corner, balconies and copper-toned cladding enliven the composition, echoing the brick hues of the surrounding neighborhood.
