Archa Archa
Arca Archa is conceived as a sculptural volume suspended above the landscape — precise, monolithic and deliberately detached from the ground.
Designed as a compact architectural volume, the house can adapt to different sites, including those with subtle changes in elevation. Its geometry creates a deliberate contrast with the natural surroundings. Where the landscape is fluid and unpredictable, the architecture remains calm and exact. White plaster, deep openings and textured stone surfaces form a restrained composition, while the stone planes subtly frame the glazing and transform individual windows into larger architectural gestures.
The house reveals itself through movement.
Rather than connecting spaces through conventional corridors, the architecture creates a sequence of transitions — from the entrance to the inner courtyard, from the courtyard towards the garden and pool, and from the enclosed interior to the open terrace. Architectural volumes frame these passages, while concealed linear lighting traces the routes through the house, turning circulation into part of the evening atmosphere.
At the heart of the house, a private courtyard becomes the organizing element of the plan. Three interconnected volumes embrace it from different sides, creating a sheltered interior landscape that becomes an extension of everyday life. A canopy of rotating louvers allows the courtyard to constantly change — open to the sky, filtered by sunlight or immersed in shade.
The entrance is aligned with the courtyard, creating a direct visual connection from the moment one enters the house. A concealed wardrobe and guest bathroom are integrated into the entrance sequence, keeping the main living spaces visually clear.
Inside, the boundaries between architecture and landscape are intentionally blurred.
Large sliding glass systems disappear deep into the building, allowing the living spaces to open completely towards the terraces and garden. The living room and dining area flow into the kitchen, while a smaller private terrace extends the kitchen outdoors. The main terrace continues this sequence, creating a generous setting for dining, resting and gathering around the BBQ.
The practical functions remain carefully integrated into the architecture. A separate service entrance provides a direct connection to the kitchen, while the laundry and technical spaces are kept outside the main circulation routes. Even the carport becomes part of the architectural composition rather than an additional structure.
The private wing follows a quieter rhythm. The master bedroom and two additional bedrooms are conceived as secluded retreats, each with its own bathroom, dressing area and small terrace. A home office completes this more intimate part of the house.
Sunlight and privacy are controlled without compromising the openness of the architecture. The recessed glazing and integrated sun protection allow the façades to remain visually clean while maintaining a comfortable interior climate throughout the day.
The material palette is deliberately restrained. White plaster with subtle rustication gives the façades a graphic rhythm, while textured stone and porcelain surfaces introduce depth and tactility. Seamless microcement continues across terraces, steps and outdoor platforms, allowing the architecture to read as one continuous gesture.
Architectural lighting by XAL and Buzzi&Buzzi, Oikos doors and large-format Reynaers or Schüco glazing complete the project with elements that remain almost entirely integrated into the architecture.
