An Miên is a coffee brand built on pride in the authentic values of quality coffee, closely associated with the image of the roasting workshop—where aroma, heat, and the rhythm of industrial operations coexist. The space is conceived as an extension of this spirit, where the act of enjoying coffee is framed through materiality, light, and emotion.
Located within the modern and vibrant An Phú urban area, the project is approached as a reinterpretation of industrial space within a contemporary city context. Rather than directly replicating the image of a factory, the design focuses on visual perception through the language of steel—cold, weighty, and highly reflective—to create a space that is both raw and contemporary.
Taking advantage of the generous ceiling height, industrial roof structures made of galvanized steel mesh panels are organized into layered surfaces enveloping the space. The metal surfaces are not fully enclosed, allowing light to penetrate, bounce, and reflect through multiple structural layers, partially revealing the technical systems above as an integral part of the spatial image.
Warm yellow light is introduced as a visual guide, filtered through polycarbonate layers and reflected onto the galvanized steel surfaces, creating overlapping, diffused, and softly blurred layers of illumination. The continuous interaction between light and metal allows the space to shift with changing viewpoints and times of day, while tempering the inherent coldness of industrial materials.
The project stands as an exploration of how a space imbued with the spirit of a workshop can exist and adapt within a modern urban environment—where industrial qualities are not only seen, but also perceived through light, reflection, and visual experience.
