The new Société Générale Algeria headquarters is located close to the airport in the centre of the new Bab Ezzouar Business District.
Simple and iconic volume
The clear and legible volume gives the project a strong identity, a homogeneous and unified sculpture which, in a single gesture, expresses the integration of the multiple functions within the building.
The long horizontal base, which extends to the site side boundary, projects an image of stability - by its length that creates maximum visibility from the public road to emphasis the institutional presence within the city.
This majestic sculpture is shrouded in a fine white fiber-reinforced concrete mesh that breaks to reveal the glazed wall behind and marks the opening, the close link between inside and outside.
These openings provide views into the building, an invitation to enter and appreciate the activity inside the building, which can be perceived through the mesh and towards the outdoor relaxation spaces (notably, the restaurant terrace) seen from the street.
Terraces, gardens, loggias
A wide variety of outdoor spaces are provided which extend, increase the interior space and contribute to the quality and comfort of the building:
• The restaurant terrace overlooking the city benefits from its height and triple orientation to provide exceptional views.
• On the south elevation, double height loggias punctuate the different levels. In continuity with the interior space and protected from the sun by the white mesh, they create extremely pleasant places where to meet and exchange.
As a consequence, each level has accessible terraces with different attributes (views, light).
