The Alameda Apartment is located along one of the tree-lined pathways that articulate and converge at Parque El Virrey, one of Bogotá's principal green corridors. This system of parks and linear routes follows the course of the El Chicó stream, connecting the eastern hills to the Bogotá River in the west, and constitutes one of the city's most significant landscape structures.
The architectural design approach departs from a constant questioning of the ways of dwelling and the configuration of domestic space and its formal components. On this occasion, drawing from an idea by Damián Tabarovsky, we understood space as a literary praxis: each object and each element functions as a carefully constructed phrase, organized and articulated within a larger composition. Just as in writing one letter follows another and pauses determine the rhythm of a text, in this project we understood that aesthetics and beauty emerge precisely from that practice, and not from the need to respond to novelty or the shifting logics of trend.
In a context marked by speed, overproduction, and the progressive loss of meaning, at Cabida Arquitectura we seek to reclaim our own disciplinary language. We understand each project, regardless of its scale or commission, as an opportunity to incorporate critical reflections and positions inherent to the discipline. Drawing from references such as Baudelaire's reflections on beauty and the material sensibility proposed by Zumthor, the project seeks to recover a more attentive relationship with the essential, the natural, and the pristine. The proposal centers on the construction of functional and human spaces, conceived from sensory and tactile experience, where materiality, light, and the arrangement of elements contribute to a meaningful domestic experience.
