The project involved the renovation of a two-storey house and pre-'67 annex, located in a hilly area in the municipality of Bertinoro in Emilia - Romagna. The house is on two floors above ground and remains faithful to the original layout.
The project wanted to obtain a contemporary reinterpretation of the language used in the hilly area of Romagna, referring to the building types present in the area and allowing continuity with the rural context in which it stands.
The volume of the dwelling is compact, and the façades have been rethought through large arched openings on the ground floor towards the private garden, favouring natural lighting and optimal visual and spatial interaction with the outdoors, while on the first floor the windows are scanned according to the original module.
In particular, on the south-facing façade, the house opens up towards the hills through a large arched opening.
The building fits harmoniously into the landscape, generating a close relationship/integration between the suggested architectural image and the functionality and flexibility of the spaces.
On the ground floor are the community and movement areas: the living area consisting of the living room and kitchen and the service bathroom.
The upper floor is intended for the sleeping area, consisting of four rooms each with a bathroom.
The character of the building is strongly determined by the choice of materials used, by the contrasts between the rough stone-clad wall surfaces and the metal surfaces of the window and door frames embellished with a special bronze finish.
