BNIM is elevating the design of the “typical” parking garage through its work on the 10th and Wyandotte Garage, located in Kansas City’s urban core.
The design team engaged with local artist Andy Brayman, who is part of a collective of artists who use architectural software as part of their practice, fusing together art and architecture.
The pattern for the almost 600 ceramic inserts was informed by the constraints of the garage’s material and inspired by nature, specifically the shapes of fossils.
Students of nearby Crossroads Academy, another BNIM project, will have the opportunity to design a mural for another wall of the garage.
