Founders and designers from Between the Walls studio, Andriy Anisimow and Victoria Karieva, have unveiled their new project, Apartment 044, a 37-square-meter unit in a modern residential complex in Podil. This area of Kyiv, Ukraine is known for its industrial history and cultural richness, adding a unique charm to the new building with elements of modernism and brutalism.
The apartment features an open space and design experiments that create volume and visually expand the room's scale. The entrance corridor, illuminated by natural light from the living room and bedroom, fills the space with a sense of lightness. To the right is a wardrobe made of glass blocks, adding more light to the room by reflecting rays. On the left is a convenient built-in closet and storage shelves for outerwear and other items, done in light tones that seamlessly transition into the kitchen area.
The living room and kitchen form a single space where every element is meticulously thought out. A large wooden table in the kitchen, surrounded by Alias chairs, becomes a focal point for friendly gatherings. A poster by Anastasiia Leliuk on aluminum sheets adds an artistic touch, while a minimalist loft-style lamp ties the whole composition together.
The living room serves as a place for relaxation. A green sofa by Diza Collective, symbolizing freshness, is paired with a painting by Anton Sayenko, creating an atmosphere of coziness and inspiration. The use of glass and wood adds warmth to the space, and numerous shelves with decor complete the look.
Despite its compactness, the bedroom exudes light and comfort. Two windows fill the room with daylight, and a partition made of plywood and ribbed glass ensures privacy. A painting by Hamlet Zinkivskyi and French lamps by AM.PM add elegance and delicacy to the room.
Project 044 is a harmonious blend of modern design with elements that evoke nostalgia. Every detail is carefully considered, creating a comfortable and unique living space in the heart of Podil.
