Founded in 2013 by designer Sang Yoon Kim, Listen Communication is an interior design studio based in Seoul. Deeply inspired by Korea’s natural landscapes and traditions, designer Sang Yoon Kim reinterprets these elements in a contemporary context. Listen Communication’s Hanok Heritage House project was named “The World’s Most Beautiful Hotel” at the 2024 Prix Versailles, hosted by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects, and has won the Grand Prize in the Space category at the Spark International Awards in 2014, the Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards in 2014, the International Design Awards in 2016, the Golden Scale Best Design Award in 2017, and the Korea Interior Design Best Award in 2018. At the heart of Listen Communication’s design philosophy is a deep appreciation for Korea’s rich cultural heritage. This approach creates spaces, products, electrical design and staging that are rooted in history while still being suitable for a contemporary lifestyle. In recent years, Listen Communication has worked on a series of collaborative projects with leading figures in various design and craft fields. These collaborations serve as a bridge between past and present, demonstrating the potential for traditional techniques and contemporary design principles to coexist and evolve.
