Partners Mark Anderson and Peter Anderson started the firm as a design-build construction company in 1984. He is President of Bay Pacific Construction as well as a Partner in Anderson Anderson Architecture. From 1997-2001 he was a visiting faculty member of the University of Hawaii School of Architecture, where he held the position of Director of the Construction Process Innovation Laboratory, conducting research and teaching in the area of international entrepreneurial business opportunities in technology and urban development. He has frequently been invited to speak at universities and at international architecture and building construction conferences in the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asia, and has been extensively involved in developing and presenting construction technology courses and seminars for design and construction professionals in Japan and America.His design work has received numerous regional, national and international awards, and has been widely published in books and journals in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Asia as well as in numerous newspaper and magazine articles. His design and construction technology work has been included in the PBS television series Future Quest, and featured on CNN and on NHK TV in Japan. His projects have been exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, are included in the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and are the subject of a current monograph from Princeton Architectural Press, Anderson Anderson: Architecture and Construction.Mark AndersonMark Anderson has worked in the construction industry since high school as a construction worker, architect, and general contractor. In partnership with his brother, Peter Anderson, he has designed and built numerous residential and light commercial buildings and public art installation projects in the United States and Japan. He is currently involved in a number of research, design and construction projects in the U.S. and in AsiaHe has lectured and written educational materials for numerous professional seminars in the U.S. and Japan on topics of design and construction technology and has lectured frequently at universities in the U.S. and Asia on his design work. He has taught design studios on urban issues and new construction technology focused on cities in the Asia-Pacific region; lecture and laboratory courses on construction materials and processes; and seminar courses relating entrepreneurial opportunities in new technology and product prototyping to environmental and urban issues in Asian cities.A significant focus of his work has been on new construction technology and he has served as a consultant in this area for corporations and government agencies in the U.S. and in Asia. His creative work has received numerous awards and has been included in group and solo exhibitions in the United States as well as in Japan.
