AirBn’Backseat: This Tesla Is the Racecar Bed of Your Childhood Dreams

Matt Shaw Matt Shaw

There are wacky Airbnbs and then there are wacky Airbnbs. This guy in Phoenix wants you to rent and stay in his TESLA Model S, which seems like a legit camping adventure. The car, according to the ad, “sleeps 2 in climate controlled comfort all night” — on a twin airbed that is 6’6″ by 36″ wide. Host Steve provides clean sheets, pillows and a blanket or comforter, and two remote controlled candles.

Would it be in a National Park? On a lake? “Since the Tesla uses NO gas the Tesla’s A/C or Heat can run all night without any problem locked securely in my attached garage. You can set the mood with your selection of any Internet music you would like on the huge 17″ monitor.” Wait a minute — in a garage? However, this is very flexible and we can agree on a time the night before of course!” (According to CBS KPHO segment, he’s also an Uber driver, which is a slightly less expensive way to enjoy his Tesla via the so-called sharing economy.)

Of course, there’s no denying that Teslas are pretty sweet rides, and if it seems like you’d have to be insane to book a night in one, it turns out that the car manufacturer is actually launching that feature in the near future. It’s not exactly drifting off to sleep:
