Architizer Editors Architizer Editors

It’s become a See-and-Be-Seen event every spring in New York City that attracts both locals and visitors from all over the world who want to discover the best finds in contemporary design. And the fair, now in its 28th year, has become such an integral stop on the international A&D show circuit that the city launched and expanded programming and satellite events around it collectively known as the two-week-long NYCxDESIGN. Of course, we’re speaking of none other than ICFF, which kicks off this Saturday, May 14.

Over the course of four days, more than 33,000 interior designers, architects, facilities managers, retailers and many other design enthusiasts are expected to scour the fair at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center where some 750 exhibitors will showcase wares ranging from furniture and lighting to textiles and home accessories. In addition to local and domestic exhibitors, special pavilions will highlight works from the international contingents including the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Brazilian Furniture, British European Design Group, Ceramics of Italy, Design Philippines, Inside Norway, Interiors from Spain and Portugal Brands.

Other fair highlights include a “Global Emerging Designers” showcase presented by Interior Design magazine to introduce never-before-seen talents from France, Spain, Brazil, Norway, the U.K., Philippines and Japan; “HO.MI,” a bi-annual lifestyles fair imported from the Milan Fairgrounds to present Italian furniture, lighting, wall coverings, carpet and flooring, kitchen and bath and more; the ever popular ICFF Studio fair-within-a-fair sponsored by Bernhardt Design; and numerous exhibits featuring works from some of the country’s top design schools including Parsons, School of the Art Institute of Chicago and RISD.

But, eye candy aside, ICFF will also offer opportunities to meet and hear from leading and emerging product and interior designers, network with industry professionals and learn what trends are on the horizon.
