ZEYTİNLİ HOUSE
Inspired by Mediterranean life, Zeytinli House is located in the countryside of Seferihisar, Izmir, at the highest point of Gölcük Village. Green hills flow between olive trees and vineyards that have given life to Teos wines, shaping the village’s geomorphology. The relationship between the duplex stone structure and the additional living spaces in the long-abandoned courtyard impresses even before entering. Zeytinli House offers a modern interpretation that harmonizes with the traditional, where the "courtyard and space" nestled between stone walls almost disappears in the village silhouette.
The 70-year-old duplex stone house, once a living space with six barns, preserves its walls while interiors are re-functionalized for modern life. Designed for a quiet and slow lifestyle, the spaces come alive amid new stone walls bearing traces of the past. Transparency and continuous stone texture blur interior and exterior boundaries, softly bringing daylight and nature sounds inside. The courtyard, a transitional space, is central to the building, with a reflection pool capturing the sky and greenery. The structure offers ever-changing experiences, where sunlight, gentle wind, birdsong, stone textures, and plant scents create moments that feel both alive and fleeting.
