The Zarzales project is a weekend home located in the middle of the woods at Valle de Bravo, México. In our practice throughout the years, we have tried to imitate what nature has perfected over centuries. This project tries to adapt itself to the topography that surrounds it.
The idea is that the visitor sees only canopies that mimic the landscape, that is why we chose colours and exterior finishings that resemble the tree trunks and the forest floor.
With nature as a protagonist, we designed two volumes that are connected with a glass path. In the private part of the house, we wanted all the rooms to have punctual views of the densest vegetation.
Also, with this project, we aimed to eliminate the barrier between the outside and the inside, to this effect, we designed the roofed terrace with glass and wood that protect the visitor from the climate, at the same time allowing the sensation of being in the middle of the forest to sink in.
