The Yantala Office building is designed with its context and climate in mind. Niger is an arid country where temperatures often reach 45°c. Cooling the building while ensuring minimal energy consumption is of the utmost importance. The shape of the windows, which have screens over them, helps reduce the amount of heat entering the building. The structure is a mixed system of concrete frame with Compressed Earth Bricks (CEB) infill, a fire resistant material that is also known to repel heat and keep insects at bay. The diagonals produced make the building stand out on the busy street by giving it a striking façade expression.
