A classic house from the 1960s, an extension and the desire for a practical use of the outdoor area: a generous terrace construction on the level of the living area with its awning becomes a shady meeting deck. At the same time, it creates a successful connection between the interior and the garden area. A clear view of the surrounding greenery as well as of the neighbouring family plot is provided by a guardrail made entirely of glass - the invitations to the pool are made with a wink, so to speak.
A design rich in contrasts runs consistently from the inside to the outside - the light-coloured wall facade of the old building and the house dog correspond with dark carbonised larch wood in the extension. Yakisugi is the name of this traditional Japanese method of preserving wood, which uses a combustion process to make the material pest-resistant, weatherproof and particularly durable. This object in Vienna proves that it works excellently. Black on white.
