WC Terwijde, formed by seven building blocks, is designed by three different architects and form a recognizable whole. The building blocks together form a longitudinal scenic walk interrupted by two squares; the largest square is bordered by a historical farmhouse while the small square is bordered by a distinctive shopping pavilion. Through the use of the same brick for all blocks a unified appearance has been achieved.

Singular expressions for all commercials together with unified measurements for all shop windows along the scenic walk strengthen its character as a whole. Differentiation in grain size of the building blocks ensures alternation of the public space. This stony public space contrasts strongly with the green interior of the blocks.

GROUP A has designed three of the building blocks within WC Terwijde. The special Block H near the train station consists of a plinth of shops with three floors of apartments on top. Block FI, situated at the east side of the shopping centre, similarly consists of a shopping plinth with three layers of apartments. Both blocks possess a robust, articulated and tactile plinth with a lightly coloured plainly detailed cantilevered upper part. Different manifestations of brick provide a high level of detail in the shopping street façade.

Block FII has been designed as a separate shopping pavilion. Together with the historic farm it forms an exception in the urban plan, in this way the farm and Block FII form welcome interruptions of this urban plan. The specially shaped roof of the pavilion transforms the block into an all sided object on the small square. The roof that can be seen from the train will be used as signage for the whole shopping centre Terwijde.
