JLG Architects was recently selected to provide Educational Master Planning, Design, and Pre-Referendum Services to the McKenzie County School District in Watford City, North Dakota. The urgency of exponential growth in the county and student populations prompted the McKenzie County School District to initiate an aggressive plan to meet current and future needs throughout the school district.
We have been authorized to complete full Schematic Design of a new High School Facility and Master Plan the transitional use of all facilities district-wide. We have completely programmed and designed a new 800 student high school facility, assisted them in site selection and led the effort to interview and hire a Construction Manager At-Risk to assist them in realizing their goal of passing a referendum and constructing new school facilities.
Our unique team has enabled us to propose a plan whereby no additional portable classrooms will be required to house the growing student populations once the new high school is constructed. The long range planning and vision is allowing the School District to fast-track the entire process of design and construction with the goal opening their new, facility by the Fall of 2015.
The new school will be designed to easily facilitate collaborative learning environments and flexible educational space needed in the modern day delivery of education.
