Located in a three-story, century-old Shikumen building in Shanghai’s Shangxianfang Neighborhood, the project marks the first-ever concept flagship store for Warrior 1927—Warrior’s Gen Z-oriented sub-brand. Rooted in the ethos of “Classic · Fashion · Avant-garde,” the new sub-brand embraces the spirit of “Hit the Road.” While honoring Warrior’s century-long shoemaking heritage, it seamlessly blends street culture, contemporary design, and Eastern aesthetics.
Inspired by Warrior’s century-long journey since 1927, STILL YOUNG subtly weaves together the urban context, historical architectural setting, and brand culture in the store’s design. Warrior’s brand story is translated into tangible spatial cues, articulating Eastern fashion aesthetics. Each floor features a distinctive dragon-inspired art installation, unfolding the narrative of “Eastern Awakening” across three realms of time and space. The result is an immersive environment that conveys the brand’s cultural pulse, fostering emotional resonance and a sense of shared identity.
Interweaving a century of cultural legacy with contemporary fashion sensibility, the design fuses the city’s cultural context with the brand’s Eastern identity, unfolding a dialogue across time. Set within a historic Shikumen building featuring exposed brick walls and a black lacquered gate, the first floor invites visitors to step into a journey through Warrior’s century-long milestones.
Inside, a dormant dragon—rooted in Eastern lineage—begins to awaken.
The custom installation merges the form of a shoe with the skeletal structure of a dragon’s head. Fiery red kinetic screens, paired with sculptural mechanical components, enliven an awakening force—breaking barriers, surging toward the future.
A metallic framework evokes the memory of old factories, serving the backdrop for the brand’s classic footwear collections.
The brand’s iconic red becomes the visual rhythm that ignites the space. Restrained industrial textures meet vibrant color, shaping an Eastern avant-garde aesthetic that resonates with the modern metropolitan context.
In dialogue with the century-old Shikumen architecture, the interior columns are crafted from frosted acrylic and metallic textures, modestly echoing the form and proportions of the Shikumen pillars.
Warm walnut tones and adjustable lighting soften the ambience, allowing the energy of the past to flow seamlessly into a contemporary context.
More than a reflection on history, the design channels the energy from the past to the present, immersing visitors into the brand’s evolving journey.
The brand history wall is clad in walnut, its layered textures symbolizing the strata of time. Archival images and text trace the brand’s key milestones, weaving nearly a century of enduring spirit into an immersive narrative.
The second floor embodies the “present,” featuring athleisure, classic, and streetwear collections, along with a tea bar and a customization zone, immersing visitors in the pulse of contemporary trend culture.
A dragon-spine installation pulses like a heartbeat from the depths of a volcano, powerfully resonating throughout the space.
From this core, energy radiates in concentric circles—evoking both a running track and the traces of movement, extending vitality outward infinitely.
Track-inspired textures echo Warrior’s sports heritage. Floor and ceiling tracks become more than functional components—they form the spatial skeleton and the underlying logic of product display.
Every configuration emerging from the track system creates new possibilities, presenting an open interpretation of sports and fashion culture.
The customization area features a cool industrial palette, with track lighting outlining a layered rhythm across the walls. Material samples and color swatches reconfigure before customers’ eyes, while garment silhouettes come to life on digital screens, infusing the experience with dynamic energy.
Linking the retail and customization zones, a mirrored passage extends the “folded time-space” concept. Shikumen architectural silhouettes are reinterpreted into fragmented visual moments, with infinite reflections generating a sequence of layered portals that unfold like successive thresholds in time.
This space stretches, overlaps, and expands, forming a “brand time tunnel” that bridges past and future.
The social zone, a collaboration between Warrior 1927 and LELECHA, offers a place for relaxation and refreshment. The “回” motif, derived from the brand’s Chinese name and interpreted as looping-square geometry, defines the spatial rhythm. Metallic textures and bright lighting create a calm yet dynamic atmosphere. More than a tea bar, it serves as a cultural vessel—rooted in Shanghai’s local context and oriented toward the future.
The circulation connecting all floors acts as a temporal narrative, symbolizing the brand’s continuous evolution over nearly a century.
On the third floor, the “Dragon Eye” installation awakens in a futuristic setting, completing the narrative journey spanning past, present, and future.
The art installations spanning all three floors create a progressive sensory journey of “Eastern Awakening,” offering a fresh encounter with Eastern fashion culture.
The third floor is not a retail space, but an experimental realm where the brand explores the boundless possibilities of the future.
This area serves artistic collaborations, concept launches, and avant-garde events. Silver-white mirrors and translucent materials create a sense of infinite temporal-spatial extension, echoing the brand’s forward-looking vision.
The “回” motif is translated into subtle spatial symbols, permeating the spatial framework, wall lighting, and flooring. Its recurring presence evokes resonance with the brand’s identity, forming a quiet continuity throughout the space.
This flagship emerges as a hub of brand resonance, where heritage deepens, innovation takes shape, and the brand’s spirit continually renews. It serves as an interactive realm that engages emotions, senses, and values, continuously breathing new life into the brand amid an ever-changing era.
