The WAB Athletics Department is conceived as a dynamic interior environment that reflects movement, identity, and community at the heart of the school’s athletic life. Rather than treating the space as purely functional, the design positions the department as an expressive setting that supports motivation, belonging, and team spirit.
A strong graphic language defines the project. Bold stripes and directional patterns animate walls, ceilings, and circulation routes, intuitively guiding users while evoking the energy and rhythm of sport. The color palette draws from the school’s “Tigers” identity, reinforcing pride and cohesion throughout the space.
Programmatic elements — including offices, meeting rooms, changing areas, and shared spaces — are organized to encourage flow, visibility, and interaction, while still allowing moments for focus and preparation. Durable materials and acoustically considered finishes support everyday athletic use, balancing performance requirements with comfort.
By merging visual identity with spatial clarity, the project transforms an institutional support space into an active, characterful environment that celebrates physical education as a core part of student life.
