Virtuose is a full-scale renovation of a 1901 Haussmannian building in Paris’s 16th arrondissement. Originally designed for residential use, the building had gradually lost its architectural coherence through successive office conversions. The project restores unity, spatial quality and dignity by engaging in a respectful and analytical transformation process. Its strength lies in the ability to preserve what carries architectural value while adapting the structure to contemporary needs. The concept was developed through careful study of archival plans, permits, photographs and structural surveys, allowing a precise reading of the existing fabric. Each intervention was calibrated: structural grids respected, technical systems entirely renewed and layouts designed to offer maximum flexibility without compromising spatial clarity. The transformation includes a bright, multipurpose agora beneath the courtyard and a naturally lit, open top floor. Circulation spaces were reimagined using wood, indirect light and acoustic textures to guide movement and enrich the user experience. The vegetated courtyard and bioclimatic canopy contribute to environmental performance, while outdoor spaces on every level reinforce comfort and adaptability. Virtuose is both faithful to its historical roots and fully prepared for evolving urban uses.
