Inspired by the parallel rows and rolling contours of a hilly vineyard, Vintry Fine Wines establishes a new typology of wine store. Whereas a typical wine store has 60% storage and 40% display, by utilizing a direct supply service and focusing on select product offerings and expert service, Vintry has 20% storage with 80% display. The design includes a premium wines room, and accommodates large tastings and events, as well as individual client consultations for personal collections.
Primarily curvilinear forms in mostly bright white materials offset the curved steel, wood, and leather wine display shelving system. Materiality was selected and used such that they will age gracefully as fine wines do. Using computer aided technologies, the display shelving system was designed with divergent curves such that the bottles angle of repose will gradually rise and fall to accommodate different wine and bottle types with dramatic visual effect.
