A stone’s throw from the Abbey on “Monte di Cesena”, roofs and meadows come together and blend together thanks to the gentle slopes of the land.
The project is a single-family building for residential use. It is immersed in the green hills of Cesena, inserted in an environmental fabric characterised for the most part by the villas and the detached houses with large green spaces.
The renovation involves a considerable volumetric expansion and this is manifested in the construction of a new access staircase to the upper floor which creates a double-height space. In addition to energy efficiency and seismic risk reduction, the most interesting intervention is concentrated in the demolition of the current roof and in the subsequent construction of a new gabled roof with a wooden structure, the only portion of the building visible from the street. The particular conception of the roof structure attempts a close dialogue with the surrounding landscape, welcoming it and silently reinserting itself into the nature of which it is a guest, without disturbing. This result has been possible thanks to long beams exposed to the sun and wind that protrude from the building.
