Vdara Hotel & Spa at CityCenter, Las Vegas

Vdara Hotel & Spa at CityCenter, Las Vegas (Lighting Design)

YEAR
2009
Rafael Vinoly Architects was approached by MGM Mirage to design part of its new mixed-use development in downtown Las Vegas known as the City Center. They were presented with the unique task of designing a building that one felt continuous with the rest of the development and two was strong enough to stand as a singular statement. To do this the design team decided to mimic the circular theme established by its neighbor, Aria. Rafael Vinoly Architects was able to create a building using three parallel but off-set arcs that brings a modern yet slender and light feel to the Vdara that sets it apart from the many other themed hotels in Las Vegas; while making sense within the overall context of the City Center as a whole.
