We have perceived that one of main reasons that labels this area as ‘THE MISSING LINK’ is the reluctance of pedestrians cross through the tunnels from central London, to the south-west side of the train. The train acts as a significant sound barrier due to the sonic interference nature of heavy transportation vehicles moving at high speeds. The materiality of the structure carrying the tracks and spanning tunnels increases the buffering character, isolating Vauxhall. Historically Vauxhall is known for its outdoor activities, including concerts, music festivals, and individuals entertaining the public with music, makes the design aim is to listen more than seeing.
