STATUS
Built
SIZE
25,000 sqft - 100,000 sqft
Complete renovation and re-imagining of the 1965 PA Award winning Roger Williams Dining Commons by Pietro Belluschi, including additions to reorient the building to Butterfield Road and create a new image and a center for student life while respecting the original architecture. The new program will be a state-of-the-art university fitness center with cardio, yoga, and spin studios, strength and cardio equipment, demonstration nutrition kitchen, and physical fitness assessment areas.

The project has been designed to achieve LEED-CI Silver levels and is awaiting final certification. Green aspects include features geared toward the fitness center environment, such as bottle fillers to encourage re-usable containers and avoid pre-packaged bottled water, and athletic flooring made from recycled rubber. All new heating and power systems optimize energy use, and new full glazing and exterior wall retrofits conserve energy.
