This project began with the demolition of a neglected bungalow and the vision of owner, architects and lighting designers. The three-storey modern house, inserted congruously into the 1940’s fabric of Toronto, lit entirely with LED lighting and using less than 1W/SF, proves that LED can be successfully implemented in private residential applications. Linear slots, coves and swaths of texture add visual accents to the trimless LED general downlighting, providing elements of both surprise and serenity throughout the house. The sensitive use of colour temperature mixed with a minimal palette of decorative fixtures creates a balance of modern design and relaxed warmth.
