Designed by CREATON Architectural Studio for the Municipality of Plovdiv – West District, this Urban Community Center with an above-ground multi-storey parking facility, exemplifies a holistic approach to public architecture. Тhe project reimagines parking infrastructure as a vibrant social and urban catalyst rather than a purely technical structure.
The building delivers nearly 150 parking spaces distributed across three levels, substantially relieving traffic pressure in the area. The ground floor is strategically activated with commercial and service-oriented functions, including retail spaces, cafés, and dining venues, later complemented by a children’s center. Separate entrances for different functions ensure smooth operation and a clear hierarchy of movement for both pedestrians and vehicles.
Traffic management is a core design concern. The parking exit is deliberately recessed from the street, allowing vehicles to queue safely outside the building volume before entering traffic, thus preventing congestion and improving overall road safety. The building’s contour and access layout are carefully shaped to balance representational quality with generous areas for landscaping and urban greenery.
Advanced technological solutions enhance usability and safety: EV charging stations, enlarged accessible parking spaces, electronic access control, reinforced metal guardrails, and protective wheel stoppers are integrated throughout. Internal circulation is organized with two-way vehicular ramps, while pedestrian access to all levels complies fully with accessibility standards.
The rooftop is also utilized as parking space, covered with lightweight structures that protect vehicles from weather conditions while contributing to a visually lighter architectural expression. The façade design combines aluminum composite panels, expansive glazing, perforated guardrails, and bold yellow spatial frames, creating a transparent yet powerful urban presence. The result is a contemporary landmark that merges functionality, safety, and architectural identity.
