Since construction in 1929, Kinnick Stadium has been home to Iowa Hawkeye Football and their fans. After 70-plus years of use, large-scale renovation and expansion was long overdue. On the south side of the stadium, a new plaza and gateway were built where the Klotz tennis courts had once stood. The south end zone seating was reconstructed, keeping in style with the historic east and west stands, and providing modern amenities below for concessions and restrooms. The press box tower, located above the west side stands, was reconstructed and greatly expanded with state-of-the-art facilities including premium seating and game day suites, and now serves as a beacon to visitors driving east into Iowa City.
