The Unipark Ningbo project is located on the bank of the Fenghua River and is adjacent to Metro Line 4, in close proximity to an emerging high-end riverside residential area.
During the design phase, RLP factored in Ningbo's local port culture, intangible heritage culture and sea-going commercial history. The project is divided into three plots, using a “riverside stones” design concept, originating from the unique “thousand-layer stones” found on the riverside. The building façades follow the stones’ colour scheme, mimicking and mirroring the natural rocks nearby.
The buildings’ stacked open platform echoes with the riverside public space, seamlessly connecting the development with the riverside green space, making the development part of the natural environment and creating a pleasant, comfortable space for all.
The project plot division, large volume and multi-functional layout presented several design challenges, which RLP overcame by building an innovative “skybridge corridor” between buildings to integrate the three original plots.
We also ensured human-centric design was at the forefront of design considerations – the stepped roof acts as an outdoor dining platform and the first rooftop sports park and family-friendly parent-child venue in Ningbo. This“third living space” is a centrepiece of the new Jiangnan Road business district.
