This project established experiments to determine specialized habitat for amphibians located in a proposed residential development in New York. We discovered that physical and biotic pond scale factors have great effect on amphibian success than density, contrary to environmental consultant's recommendations. To improve land-planning practices we linked the development of a suburban masterplan to ecological research, adding academic research to address gap between regulations and ecological knowledge. Overall, our approach changed the paradigm of developer practices.
