For Tribe, Amrapali wanted to create a unique retail identity that would embody its young, bold and approachable ethos, thus capturing its differentiation from the parent brand.
Studio Lotus articulated the store in Mumbai as a layered experience of explorations, where one can meander through the narrative of the display and discover the jewelry pieces along the way. Led by Pankhuri Goel, Principal at Studio Lotus, the team’s design was inspired from tribal patterns and tattoos, objects and textures and crafted through details, materials and techniques that make the space bold, elemental and authentic.
A series of metal screens was inserted into the neutral canvas of the 300-sqft interior to maximize display and create different zones and highlight areas through which one maneuvers. Geometrically-shaped display devices, digital screens, mirrors, tribal tapestries and wall art were woven in innovatively to break the monotony and add warmth. Each device was carefully structured to work independently while adding a distinct layer to the overall brand experience.
Bound by front and rear glass facades, the store’s porous metal skin expands views of the product ranges and draws people in. The insightfully-developed display systems have been customized for flexibility and easy reconfiguration to keep changing the product story over time and lend visual variety.
Blackened metal, wood and stone keep the palette understated, nuanced through hand tooling and hand flaming, to amplify the beauty of the showcased collections from Tribe.
