Perched atop a mountain road, this lake house retreat for the Black Family makes a bold modern statement in a rustic setting. Views, natural daylight and volumes of books abound in this getaway by the lake.
The site plan embraces a connection to the surrounding nature, with the design of the [TREEHOUSE] intentionally taking full advantage of its site orientation to maximize the amount of glazing and blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living. This connection is further strengthened by the various outdoor zones and decks that have been designed around the [TREEHOUSE]. In addition to a relaxing lake side pool area, the South facing courtyard provides a private retreat under the shade of pine trees for Mr. Black to read or Mrs. Black to paint.
Simplicity, openness and clean lines define the layout for the [TREEHOUSE]. The floor plan of the home is based off of a series of interlocking rectangular volumes. As one enters the home and transition through it, the spaces move from public to private. The great room acts as the guiding force around which all the other rooms are arranged and serves as the perfect entertaining space. The living room, dining room, kitchen and home office all open out to each other and the beautiful views of the lake beyond. Just off of the main gathering space are the master bedroom and guest bedroom suites.
