Train Boston Sports Center, located in Wellesley MA, is a unique training environment. They offer a medical based team of physical therapists, personal trainers and athletic performance coaches. Having been in their existing facility for quite some time, they approached S3 Design to help them refresh the aesthetic, open up the space, and functionally rework the space to be more conducive to how they train now, versus when they first started. This task became all the more challenging because Train Boston needed to stay open through the renovations. To achieve this goal, the design team, ownership and the contractor developed a phased plan. With the locker rooms in dire need of an update, they became part of the early phases. Removing gang showers as well as providing individual showers and new lockers were essential to the face lift. A new finish palette was implemented using the Original Train Boston orange as a baseline. The existing facility was broken up into smaller rooms that left the reception in a narrow and tight space. S3 proposed opening up the reception to one of the adjacent rooms, thus allowing for more functional training space, and giving the reception area a more comfortable look and feel. This move also required relocating the therapy offices to another area of the building. This gave physical therapy an area to train in front of their offices that was more functional and on point with how they work with clients. The Train Boston ownership was looking for a cleaner modern look that reflected the professional nature of what they are bringing to the health and wellness world.
