Sited on a corner lot within the forest, Torcaza House emerges from a profound reading of the location. Every curve and volumetric shift responds to a precise decision: avoiding existing trees, adapting to the natural slope of the terrain, optimizing sunlight entry at different times of day, framing specific views of the landscape, and—simultaneously—ensuring privacy between interior spaces and relative to the surroundings. The form is not merely an aesthetic device but the direct result of interpreting the site's conditions.
The house is organized through interlocking organic volumes that eliminate the concept of a primary façade. Each vantage point reveals a different image, where overhangs, curves, and transparency create an evolving architecture that engages in a dialogue with the forest from every angle.
The project's formal complexity posed one of its greatest challenges, both structurally and in terms of construction. The sequence of curves and counter-curves required the development of specific technical solutions to precisely realize the conceived geometry. Much of the construction involved the fabrication of custom formwork—designed and executed specifically for each section—since there were virtually no repetitive elements. This process demanded a high level of precision and intense collaboration among architects, engineers, and builders, ultimately transforming a highly complex geometry into an impeccably executed concrete structure.
At the heart of the home rises a cluster of four inclined columns, an abstract interpretation of a group of tree trunks. This element serves both structural and spatial functions, acting as the organizing axis for the social area and as a sculptural centerpiece that defines views and circulation.
The interior unfolds through gentle level changes that connect the various spaces with absolute fluidity, creating a continuous spatial experience. Toward the rear garden, expansive windows blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, linking the living room, dining area, and kitchen with the swimming pool and the forest.
