A Well-Connected Community Oasis
Nestled in a dense residential area, this project offers an epitome of a green “breathing space” for all members of this neighbourhood to enjoy. Accessible from all directions and conveniently connected to its environs, both at-grade and at footbridge level, this facility is community hub and oasis in the midst of the concrete jungle.
Twin Buildings on a Three-Dimensional "Green Carpet"
The District Open Space is represented by a multi-layer “green carpet”, covering the entire site across different levels and embracing the distinct building masses in a harmonious master plan. Leisure paths, ramps and stairways will intersect with outdoor facilities like fitness stations, children’s play areas and an outdoor reading area. Lawns are accessible to all and offer a natural leisure experience. Every opportunity for greening has been captured, including rooftops and vertical green areas. Open space has also been maximised to achieve a full one hectare of space over the relatively constrained 1.8 hectare site.
Emerging from this “green carpet” are two distinct building masses, each expressing with a clear identity for its function. The District Library on the site’s north-west corner houses adult and children sections, a multimedia centre, newspaper and magazine corners and study rooms. The Sports Centre on the south-east corner is home to an indoor games arena, an indoor jogging track, convertible multi-purpose dance rooms, a fitness centre, and a children’s playroom.
