\\ Tinhela610 is more than a tourism project; it is an example of a selfsustainable
and regenerative structure that promotes the increasingly essential
concept of “inner sustainability”. Holly Niemela and Édouard Payen are the
founders of this project, bringing vast experience in the field of self-knowledge,
awareness and sustainable management to build a better future.
The set of pre-existing structures, located in Tresminas, a landmark of the Vila
Pouca de Aguiar region has proven to be a characteristic example of the natural
and the heritage interest of the area.
Seeking to combine preservation and ecological sustainability with the cultural
and tourist development of the region, we designed a proposal based on the
indigenous traditions and culture, largely defined by the Roman presence in the
area, and by the mining complexes of Tresminas and Jales.
The main conceptual arteries of this complex were the recovery, preservation
and promotion of the built elements of historical value, as marks of the
evolution of the territory and its inhabitants.
These constructed elements, which we found in ruins, and the landscape that
surrounds them, were the inspiration for a sustainable project with minimal
impact on the local ecosystem.
The architectural intervention was subtle and discreet, and aimed above all to
highlight and elevate the natural landscape in which they are integrated.
The project materialized in the conception of an ecological village, with
accommodation for 14 guests, which would be configured as a refuge for
communion between the “self” and the surrounding nature.
